Recycling & Disposal

IEX manages the end-of-life handling of spent scavenger materials through its parent company, the Mastermelt Group a specialist precious metal reclaimer operating secure processing facilities across the UK.

Once critical materials have been captured within IEX’s functional scavenger materials, the final stage of the lifecycle is their recovery, refining, or compliant disposal handled through a single, accountable pathway with full job tracking and documentation throughout.

The IEX Approach

Spent scavenger materials are returned to IEX and processed through Mastermelt's secure reclamation facilities. From the moment material arrives, each job is tracked through every stage assayed, processed, and settled with care and full transparency.

This closes the loop on the recovery or removal process ensuring that whatever has been captured is handled correctly, whether that means refining for value, managing hazardous waste, or a combination of both.

What We Offer

Precious Metal Reclamation

Spent scavengers loaded with precious metals are processed through Mastermelt's reclamation service.

Material is handled with care at a secure facility, tracked throughout, and reclaimed to recover the most precious metal possible. The process delivers a clear, auditable record from point of capture through to refined return or financial settlement.

Precious Metal Leasing

For organisations that do not want to maintain their own stock of precious metal, Mastermelt offers flexible leasing options. Leasing brings greater flexibility and control to cash flow, frees up capital for investment elsewhere, and avoids owning unused assets at a fixed price.

Lease rates are influenced by factors including geography of supply, market demand, and investor behaviour across global PGM markets.

Hazardous Material Handling

Where spent scavenger materials are classified as hazardous including contaminated chemical catalysts, chemical solutions, filter cakes, and sludges  Mastermelt provides compliant handling and reclamation.

Mastermelt's regulatory team can manage the Transfrontier Shipment Notification (TFS) process on your behalf, removing a significant compliance burden and avoiding the delays that incomplete applications cause.
